5 Reasons Why I Love Living in Bothell

I have lived in Washington for over 20 years and the first place we moved to as a family was Shoreline. I went to school there and made a lot of friends. After my brother and I graduated from high school, my family moved away to the Edmonds area. Fast forward about 15 years, married, and two beautiful kids, we settled down in Bothell. The idea of living in Bothell was mine, while my husband wanted to be closer to Bellevue to shorten his commute. My office is located in Lake Forest Park and I do most of my work both in Seattle and Eastside.

The commute from Bothell to any of those areas is so easy! I can take 522 either West or East and most of the time I avoid the freeway traffic! Just about a year after we have lived in Bothell, a miracle and a blessing happened – my husband was officially transferred to a work campus in Bothell! His commute is basically 10 minutes, which is something that I think a lot of people would dream of. I thought I would jot down and share a few reasons why we love living in Bothell.

#1. Location

Bothell is centrally located to pretty much everything we need. We are 15-20 minutes to Kirkland and Bellevue, where I work and play :). Woodinville is just 10 minutes from us, all because I love shopping in Downtown Woodinville at Target, Home Goods and TJ Maxx. My family lives in Edmonds, which is another 20 minutes or so without traffic. Not to forget, we are minutes from Burke-Gilman trail where we like to bike with our kids.

#2. Best Schools

I took my own advice and found a home for our family that was located in one of the best-rated school districts. Ratings for Northshore School District can be found on Great Schools.

#3. Neighborhood

I have seen a ton, and I mean a TON of neighborhoods in my line of work. I definitely had a vision of what my home would look like as well as a neighborhood it would be located in. Our neighborhood is very cute and not very big. Since we have children, we wanted to have that sense of community and see my kids growing up and going to school (which is literally down the street) with their friends.

#4. Convenience

I want to highlight how conveniently a lot of the amenities and necessities are located in Bothell.  We are within minutes to at least 3 grocery stores such as PCC, Safeway, and QFC, not to mention all the drug stores. Convenience for me translates into time. It is convenient for me to drive to my favorite gym, get a work out in and be right on my way and continue working. I take my kids to swim lessons Bothell, and then reward them with their favorite restaurant at the end of the day. So, it’s all about the time you have with your loved ones, and not the time spent driving hours to your destination!

#5. Parks and Recreation

Bothell alone has a list of 16 parks! Most of the parks are within 15-minute drive. The list can be found here Bothell Parks.

One other recreation here in Bothell and a lot of people are familiar with is the McMenamins Anderson School! Not only does it have several restaurants, bars, but it has a movie theater and an indoor swimming pool! The pool is actually complimentary to Bothell residents! I don’t know about you, but I love it!
